Situated on a reclaimed barge and proposed directly off the shoreline of Manhattan, City Beach NYC creates a seaside atmosphere with New York City’s first "pop-up" public beach.
Innovative and stylistically designed, City Beach NYC features innovative landscaping, sand dunes, deck chairs, pop-up food kiosks, a bar and anchor restaurant. It borrows from the urban aesthetic of the High Line Park wrapped in a organic Montauk beach experience.
The pop up beach is constructed from a recycled barge and provides residents with a new public space to enjoy the city’s coastline – it’s a place where New Yorkers can enjoy a public beach facility while connecting with their surrounding environment high atop a sand due. The beach barge will inter-weave sand, crushed-shell walking paths, dunes and beach grass for a local beach experience. Beach go-ers can rent chairs and umbrellas, enjoy food and drinks, rest in the sun or shade, and enjoy the surroundings. The aim of City Beach NYC is to bring the beach to those who seek a summer respite and create a bit of joie de vivre for the millions of tourists who make New York one of the most visited city in the world.
City Beach NYC will generate revenue through concession rental fee, restaurant/bar, chair and umbrella rentals, sponsorship rights and events.

Based on the British series of the same name, Showtime's 'Queer as Folk' presents the American version. Following the lives of five gay men in Pittsburgh, 'Queer as Folk' is a riveting drama full of sex, drugs, adventure, friendship and love. Although the creators of 'Queer as Folk' wanted to present an honest depiction of gay life, it is by no means a comprehensive depiction. In addition to the usual sexual escapades and relationships of the five friends, the show explores critical gay political and health issues.
